Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Gift ("we," "us," "our") collects when you use the Gift mobile app, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. Gift is a habit-tracking app for iOS.

Information you provide directly

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address as provided by that sign-in method. If you choose Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we only receive the private relay address Apple generates, not your real one.

We also store the habit and schedule information you create in the app: habit names, timing preferences, completion history, your sleep window and wake times, and your Gift Score data. This is the core data the app needs to function.

Information collected automatically

Gift may collect anonymized usage analytics, such as which screens are opened and how often features are used, to understand how the app is used and to improve it. We do not use this information to identify you personally, and we do not sell it.

Screen Time and app blocking

If you use Gift's Focus feature to block distracting apps during a session, Gift requests Apple's Screen Time permission (Family Controls) to do this. Apple's own privacy design limits what any app can see through this permission: Gift only ever receives counts, such as how many apps or categories you've selected, and never learns which specific apps you picked or how you otherwise use your device. This is a limit built into Apple's system, not a choice we make.

Subscriptions and payment

Gift offers an optional paid tier through Apple's in-app purchase system, currently $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year, with no free trial. All payment is handled directly by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or store your card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, which receives your purchase and entitlement information from Apple in order to unlock paid features in the app.

What we don't collect

Gift does not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or location. Gift does not display advertising and does not share or sell your information to advertisers or data brokers.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the services that make Gift work, not for any other purpose:

• Supabase, which hosts our database and handles authentication.
• Apple, for Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, and the Screen Time permission described above.
• Google, if you choose to sign in with a Google account.
• RevenueCat, to manage and verify your subscription status.
• PostHog, if and when anonymized usage analytics are enabled, as described above.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and habit data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings inside the app. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Children's privacy

Gift is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using the address below and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use Gift after a change means you accept the updated policy.
